here is a great original photo taken by PFC Larry Robinson.  This photo appeared in a two-page "Credentials" story about three thousand soldiers from the 3rd Brigade, 8th ID, stationed in Mannheim, who took part in the Saint George exercise during an Autumn Forge exercise 1980.   Unfortunately, the soldier was not identified.  The photo caption read:  "Whaddaya think we ought to do, kid?" Friends come easy during times of stress. 
Saint George, a German III. Corps-sponsored exercise, took place only 30 miles away from the East German border.
